Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Binomio Taller ("BT") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

BT : Gain experience. You learn almost everything out of school, start internships Young and gain as much experience as you can in the work field.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

BT : Treating each project individually, solving each project with specific solutions for the user and the context and having a strong concept from the beginning.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?

BT : Good design is a good distribution of space solving the clients needs in an aesthetic manner.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

BT : Design is everywhere and in everything so investing in good design is investing in a good quality of life.

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?

BT : We’re inspired by mexican architects and designers such as Luis Barragán, Farca + Grappin, Hector Esrawe, Tatiana Bilbao and Frida Escobed.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

BT : Be updated with what’s happening in the world in design, culture, art, politics, enviromental issues, everything.

DL: What people expect from an esteemed designer such as yourself?

BT : Impecable quality.

DL: What would you like to see changed in design industry in the coming years?

BT : Better understanding and appreciation of the designers job.

DL: Where do you think the design field is headed next?

BT : More sustainable solutions and a focus on basic necessities.

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

BT : Depends on the scale of the Project. The design part usually takes from two to six months, and construction can take up to two years.

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

BT : An extensive briefing with the client to understand their needs, way of life and tastes.

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

BT : Designing from the inside out at the same time as from the outside in.

DL: Which people you interacted had the most influence on your design?

BT : The client.

DL: Which books you read had the most effect on your design?

BT : You take inspiration from each and every book you read no matter the subject.

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

BT : When the client is happy with the results.
