Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Christian Omenogor ("CO") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.
CO : I began my journey in design when I was pursuing my undergraduate degree in Information Technology. I enjoyed designing, and I wanted to go deeper, so I furthered my studies and later earned a Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). My background fuses UX research, interface design, and digital accessibility—bridging both visual creativity and scientific inquiry in design.
CO : Design, for me, is about empathy and empowerment. I became a designer to improve lives through thoughtful, inclusive digital experiences. I want technology to be usable for everyone, regardless of their background or ability.
CO : It was a choice born out of curiosity. My early exposure to product development made me realize how powerful design is in shaping experiences. The moment I saw users emotionally connect with what I designed, I knew this was my path.
CO : I design user experiences and web/digital interfaces centered on accessible design. I want to design more healthcare products, especially for underserved or vulnerable groups. My work with pediatric oncology caregivers has deepened my commitment to that cause.
CO : Stay curious. Listen more than you speak. Learn to see people beyond personas and wireframes. Also, don’t chase trends; solve real problems. Consistency, empathy, and craft will take you further than shortcuts.
CO : That's a great question. A good designer solves the problem. A great designer anticipates future problems, sees the emotional and social implications of design, and delivers value beyond the screen.
CO : I would design AI-powered healthcare tools for rural communities in Africa; tools that help diagnose, educate, and connect people with resources. Everyone deserves dignified care, regardless of geography.
CO : Empathy. That’s the core. Not just designing for users, but designing with their lives in mind; this is how you also embed accessibility in design. My success lies in connecting deeply with users’ emotional, physical, and cognitive needs and translating those insights into intuitive experiences.
CO : For now, I would say my Restful—the meditation and sleep wellness app that earned me the Silver A’ Design Award. It’s my greatest design because of the depth in design considerations; it blends cognitive science, behavioral psychology, and inclusive design principles. It was crafted not just for function, but for human emotion, helping both adults and children create peaceful space.
CO : Limited access to resources early on, mentors and maybe finance. But each obstacle taught me something: patience, resilience, and resourcefulness. These lessons now inform the way I design solutions for others, knowing that everyone comes with a unique struggle.
CO : First thing to keep in mind is to tell a story. Designers should present their work as a narrative; not just what they made, but why they made it, who it serves, and how it solves real problems. Use context, impact metrics, user feedback, and visual storytelling to show the evolution from idea to outcome.
CO : To lead transformative innovation in health and accessibility. I want to build inclusive digital products that improve health outcomes, especially for underrepresented or overlooked populations. I also hope to mentor and empower the next generation of inclusive designers.
CO : Great question. Design is one of the most powerful agents of equity. Accessible design breaks barriers for people with disabilities. Thoughtful UX can democratize healthcare or education. Design affects how we move, think, and connect—so when done ethically, it empowers and uplifts communities.
CO : Well, design is becoming more data-informed, AI-powered, and ethically complex. The future of design will demand not only technical fluency but also deep emotional and cultural intelligence, especially as we build tools that make decisions on our behalf.
