Interview with Jeff Ching-Wen Chang at Thursday 17th of May 2018:

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?
JC : I love drawing since I was a child. And I keep it as an interest during the time of studying at school. I graduated from National Kaohsiung Normal University with the bachelor degree in industrial design in KAOHSIUNG / TAIWAN.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?
JC : I choose the field that there is no absolute answer to the question. Design can be anything possible and the only limit is your imagination. A job which is full of challenge and fun, why not take an adventure and play around to be a designer?

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?
JC : I chose to major in industrial design as bachelor degree in my university, and I love it!

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?
JC : I would like to create the objects with smart and interesting feature in the multi field.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?
JC : Push yourself to the limit!

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?
JC : With smart and interesting feature.

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?
JC : Watch.

DL: How do you define design, what is design for you?
JC : Design is life, is everywhere around us. "| Everything | = Design."

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?
JC : My parents and great friends!

DL: What helped you to become a great designer?
JC : Experience learning.

DL: How does design help create a better society?
JC : When it can be able to solve the problem for people and meet the need of people.

DL: Which design projects gave you the most satisfaction, why?
JC : "RONA" A Chair of Multiple Sitting Postures. I spent months of time making a full size model in the factory and took a set of photograph. DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?
JC : Think about the using situation first.

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?
JC : "| Everything | = Design." Design is an absolute value sign for designers, we can create positive future and life through design.

DL: Who is your ideal design partner? Do you believe in co-design?
JC : The one who can complement each other on thinking and skills.

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?
JC : Work hard and try everything possible!

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?
JC : Some mentors and art teachers who can inspire a child with imagination in the childhood.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?
JC : I think the future of design is Future Lifestyle for Now.
