Interview with Omdesign at Wednesday 26th of October 2016:

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?
OC : Established in 1998, Omdesign is a Portuguese design and advertising agency that works on a daily basis for those clients that honour us with their patronage and loyalty. Based on a solid relationship between us and our clients and partners, we work with leading companies worldwide in different industries such as food and beverage, large consumption, tourism and others; the high quality and excellent work we perform are recognised globally.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?
OC : The efficiency of our everyday work based on the recognition of our clients and their consumers.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?
OC : Like in any other job, you must love what you do. Diversity, lack of formulas, liability for building and boosting the companies’ major asset - brands - and being able to consistently and effectively recreate them.

DL: What makes a good design a really good design, how do you evaluate good design?
OC : Efficiency, objectiveness and mainly being truthful. “Being is not enough. One must look like”, and communication design should play that role.

DL: What is your secret recipe of success in design, what is your secret ingredient?
OC : Resoluteness, Audacity, Precision, Efficiency and a lot of Work.

DL: Who are some other design masters and legends you get inspired from?
OC : Red Bull and Louis Vuitton brands. Red Bull because they have built up a strong brand that is reinvented daily. Because of their attitude and audacity and untiring spirit and because their ambassadors are the best among the best. It is one of the most powerful brands of the 21st century. And Louis Vuitton because of the luxury segment we are also working in and because it is the most iconic and valuable brand in this segment; besides we are particularly fond of working in this segment given the precision and uniqueness that governs everything designed for these brands. In this case, “less is more”.

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?
OC : Adding value to the brands we work for, by drawing an effective distinction between them with design features, effective design, and also adding value to our planet based on the consumers and their current and new expectations, through the design we create or recreate.

DL: Who helped you to reach these heights, who was your biggest supporter?
OC : Throughout these years we have built a close cooperation and relationships with our partners as a result of our work and they are a boost to our on-going development and design of solutions that are innovative, differentiating and highly effective; all this caters for the asset that is of utmost importance to companies - brands. That is our everyday work.

DL: How does design help create a better society?
OC : Every fine designer has to play a key role in making the world better.

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?
OC : Excellence and Awareness, focused on strategic objectivity and efficient creativity.

DL: How do you feel about all the awards and recognition you had, is it hard to be famous?
OC : Making our company and our country known for our excellent skills and capabilities make us really proud.

DL: What do you think about future; what do you see will happen in thousand years from now?
OC : We really believe that the world will be better in the future. More and well prepared and also adapted to the real needs of consumers, always considering the importance of a constant sustainable concerns. Above all, we think that it will be much more functional, and that is our ambition and daily work.
