Design Legends ("DL") had the distinct honour to interview legendary designer Mr. Paitoon Keatkeereerut, Mr.Chawin Hanjing ("MPKMH") for their original perspective and innovative approach to design as well as their creative lifestyle, we are very pleased to share our interview with our distinguished readers.

DL: Could you please tell us a bit about your design background and education?

MPKMH : 1. Chawin Hanjing , Bachelor of Fine Arts Major Of Interior Design at Rangsit University- Paitoon Keatkeereerut , Bachelor of Fine Arts Major Of Interior Design at Rangsit University, Bangkok Thailand and Graduate Diploma Interior Design at Chelsea College of Art and Design. A part of University of the Arts London UK.

DL: What motivates you to design in general, why did you become a designer?

MPKMH : 2. The Stories around us. We believe that “Livable design creates new days.”

DL: Did you choose to become a designer, or you were forced to become one?

MPKMH : 3. Yes, we chose, we want to be a designer

DL: What do you design, what type of designs do you wish to design more of?

MPKMH : 4. We design “Narrative Furniture “. We would like to design art installation.

DL: What should young designers do to become a design legend like you?

MPKMH : 5. Research, Observation, Practice.

DL: What distinguishes between a good designer and a great designer?

MPKMH : 6. Everything you can imagine, is real. Who can do it? It’s a great designer.

DL: What is the value of good design? Why should everyone invest in good design?

MPKMH : 8. Identity , taste

DL: What would you design and who would you design for if you had the time?

MPKMH : 9. Space for community in countryside, Countryman

DL: What is the dream project you haven’t yet had time to realize?

DL: What are your favorite designs by other designers, why do you like them?

MPKMH : 13. Simple and close to nature because think less, be more is a powerful.

DL: What is your greatest design, which aspects of that design makes you think it is great?

DL: How could people improve themselves to be better designers, what did you do?

DL: If you hadn’t become a designer, what would you have done?

DL: What’s your next design project, what should we expect from you in future?

DL: What would you like to see changed in design industry in the coming years?

MPKMH : 28. Nothing new for a while because economic depression.

DL: Where do you think the design field is headed next?

MPKMH : 29. Europe and Scandinavia.

DL: How long does it take you to finalize a design project?

MPKMH : 30. Depend on God, 1 day may be 1 year we don’t know.

DL: When you have a new design project, where do you start?

MPKMH : 31. Now it’s on process to do it

DL: What is your life motto as a designer?

DL: Do you think design sets the trends or trends set the designs?

MPKMH : 33. In my opinion, trends follows design. People loves something new and beautiful.

DL: What is the role of technology when you design?

MPKMH : 34. It’s a big importance part to concern in design.

DL: What kind of design software and equipment do you use in your work?

MPKMH : 35. Sketch up, auto cad and pencil and paper.

DL: What is the role of the color, materials and ambient in design?

MPKMH : 36. It’s a big importance part to concern in design that related to narrative and functions

DL: What do you wish people to ask about your design?

MPKMH : 37. Almost people don’t know what it is?

DL: When you see a new great design or product what comes into your mind?

MPKMH : 38. We focus on the structure of thinking.

DL: Who is your ideal design partner? Do you believe in co-design?

MPKMH : We believe in the power of co-design and we believe in sharing ideas what we thoughts.

DL: Which people you interacted had the most influence on your design?

DL: What makes your day great as a designer, how do you motivate yourself?

DL: When you were a little child, was it obvious that you would become a great designer?

SINCE WE GRADUATED FROM BA INTERIOR DESIGN, RANGSIT UNIVERSITY IN 2000. AFTER THAT WE STARTED TALKING ABOUT DESIGNING, BUILDING A SUCCESSFUL FURNITURE BUSINESS. WE ARE INTERESTED IN ART AND DESIGN SUCH AS NARRATIVE, SCULPTURE, SEQUENCE OF FAMILY, SPACE. WE ARE ALL THE SAME KIND OF DIFFERENCE. I HAVE BEEN WORKING IN AN INTERIOR FIELD FOR MORE THAN 10 YEARS ON OTHER SIDE MY PARTNER HE IS WORKING AS A WINDOW-DISPLAY DESIGNER FOR A DEPARTMENT STORE. FINALLY, PARTLY CLOUDY STUDIO WAS OFFICIALLY FOUNDED IN 2012. ALL FURNITURE WE HAVE DONE WHICH ARE COMBINED WITH WINDOW DISPLAY DESIGN AND FUNCTIONAL ANALYSIS. AFTER ALL WAS SAID AND DONE, WE HAD A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE.
